Daily Activities

These steps are a summary of the actions which are taken every day when using HOPE in a retail store environment. You can use them as guidelines for your own "Top Ten List."
  1. Choose and open the Calendar from the Main Menu. Review your messages and calendar notes for the day which is beginning.
  2. Add Calendar "Do Jobs" Notes for today and for the future. You may want to include possibilities (If X happens, do Y; otherwise do Z).
  3. Greet every customer who enters. Determine quickly how to meet their needs (if that's possible), while using your time wisely.
  4. Be sure to show each customer any items newly received which he or she might be interested in. Use the HOPE system for price quotes.
  5. Bring the customer to a successful result. If he is interested in something today, ask him or her for a commitment.
  6. Take the customer's money and enter the steps into the computer to provide a receipt, using stock sale, custom order, etc.
  7. When no customers are present, go through the Do Jobs calendar list sequence, calling and sending mail or fax notes to customers about items of interest to them.
  8. When packages/mailed items/phone calls are received, handle them promptly, entering information into the computer as appropriate.
  9. Before your shift is ended (Day shift by 4:00 p.m.), review inventory needs and enter Purchase Orders for Store Stock, as well as custom orders for that day.
  10. Enter messages to provide information for closing shift. If closing, run Day End reports. Analyze, and enter calendar notes for tomorrow's opening shift.
