Custom Orders

When you choose Custom Order from the Sales Menu, you are presented with an "order pad" overlaid with a list of sources for product to order, from which you choose the vendor of the goods you are selling and then the items from that vendor.

In a custom order, the objective is to create an order to be used both internally and with vendors, as you make up the customer's sale receipt. You also have the ability to mix (on a custom order) items sold from store stock with those you are ordering from the vendors.

The list of vendors which "pops up" on the order pad includes all vendors from whom the company buys, and on which some data has been previously entered into the system. There is also an "ADD NEW VENDORS.." choice, so that any vendor who is not listed can be added "on the fly."

If any vendor's items are currently in store inventory, choose "At Store Stock..." and a list of all items the store currently has will show.

In some cases, a vendor's selection is so large that it requires subdivision into multiple "vendor segments" so that it will be easy to find items. See the note below regarding booksellers, for example.

When you make a vendor choice, the computer will choose the vendor and highlight it on the order pad. Below the Vendor name, the instructions read "Item or pick (P);" If you know the number (Specifically from the vendors catalog, the in-store price tag for an identical item, or from some other source), you may enter it by typing it here. Otherwise, type P to obtain the list of items for the vendor or vendor segment.

As you scroll through the list, the price and category for each item will appear as each item is highlighted. Press <Enter> to select the specific item you want. The price can be adjusted later, if required.

When you make a selection, the name will not appear immediately, but the quantity block will be highlighted with the number 1. Change the quantity if required. Pressing Enter (with the correct quantity shown) will display the description and the total, or "extended," price.
