Purchasing should be a support operation for most businesses, governed by what your customers want and ask for. In some "high-style" businesses like fashion, and lower-margin discount-sensative businesses like computers, it is more central. HOPE treats purchasing as a support function, but you can customize it.
If inventory reorder levels have been set, or if usage for a three month period exceeds quantity on hand, the item will be listed as a candidate for stock ordering.
Purchasing is performed in the Purchasing Menu, which can be accessed by clicking on the "Store Purchase Order for Stock" option in the "To Do" drop down. To make a purchase, click on either Buy Product for Inventory or Buy Parts for Inventory, depending on the situation.
As shown on the following screen, purchasing may be done either by inventory item number (once you have set them up) or by vendor.
